Outcome Health is a healthcare ad-tech platform with the goal of “doing good, by doing well”. Their proposition, to provide educational content on free devices in doctors offices and healthcare systems, afforded them a network that was attractive to pharmaceutical partners and targeted to provide value to patients.
I joined Outcome Health in 2017 to lead design on their flagship product the Wallboard.
The Opportunity
The Wallboard had a great value proposition - it’s a large-format touch screen loaded with anatomical models, diagnostic charts and self-care tips that doctors can use with patients during exams. Our pharmaceutical partners were eager to have new promotional space on the device and to see more provider engagement. Our challenge was to identify a way to talk about treatments, without turning off patients and practitioners.
The Solution
We balanced and blended the needs of practitioners with those of our pharmaceutical partners. We reduced barriers to entry and found moments in the exam room where treatment content was valuable to everyone.
We interviewed oncologists and studied how cancer treatment options are discussed in the exam room. We learned that doctors prioritize communication about self care and medications, but they are careful about how and when they introduce patients to these topics.

Our redesign promoted unbranded education tools and placed branded content at a more appropriate moment in the treatment conversation.

VISUAL DESIGN
We applied a visual language to our design that leveraged the principals of Outcome Health’s new identity.

The Impact
Reimagining engagement as a funnel allowed us to implement quick wins, like a new welcome poster, which resulted in a 10% lift in healthcare provider engagement. Our navigational redesign supports extended treatment content, with new spaces to drive revenue from Outcome Health’s pharmaceutical sponsors.
